Hanasaki Crab (花礁帝王蟹) is caught in the port of Hanasaki off the coast of Nemuro, Hokkaido, Japan. This species of crab looks similar to the king crab due to its spiny shell, but it’s much smaller, with a shell that only measures about 15cm wide. Despite its size, it boasts a sweet, delectable meat, and the females are famous for their delicious eggs.

The Hanasaki crab shell and body turn a bright red color like a flower when it is cooked. That’s why they named it “Hanasaki ” as it means “blooming flower” in Japanese.

It is cooked and pre-cracked, so you can enjoy it without using any tools. Just using a fork or chopsticks will do the trick.
